Mondraker Factory Racing XC: a Top 10 finish at Yongpyong with the Crossmax SL Ultimate
Categories
At Mona YongPyong, the opening round of the 2026 MTB World Cup, Mondraker Factory Racing XC immediately rose to the challenge during a weekend that was as demanding as it was spectacular.
At the Korean event, which brought together XCC and XCO from 1 to 3 May, the team delivered a top-class performance thanks to Sebastian Fini, who secured a magnificent 9th place in XCO, whilst Mona Mitterwallner took a solid 8th place in XCC followed by a 15th place in XCO.
Luke Moir, for his part, rounded off the results with a 48th place, confirming the team’s presence at this opening round of the world season.
This result is truly significant. On a circuit renowned for being selective, with conditions made even tougher by the mud in the XCO, placing a rider in the world’s top 10 and having several athletes in contention against the international elite sends an extremely strong signal.
Sebastian Fini’s top 10 finish highlights the team’s collective performance, whilst Mona Mitterwallner’s versatility across short track and Olympic disciplines underscores the high standard displayed by the team right from the first round.
On the equipment front, this weekend in Korea also showcased the Mavic Crossmax SL Ultimate, the wheels on which Mavic and Mondraker are clearly basing their 2026 XC project.
Mavic explicitly presents the team as riding the Crossmax SL Ultimate, whilst Mondraker emphasises that its riders are using high-performance Mavic wheels.
At the start of the season, when riders need to push hard, absorb the impact and maintain precision lap after lap, this top-10 finish and collective consistency provide a concrete demonstration of what is expected of a top-tier cross-country wheel: performance, precision and consistency at the very highest international level.
