Mondraker Factory Racing XC: A Top 10 Finish at Yongpyong with the Crossmax SL Ultimate
Categories
At Mona YongPyong, the opening round of the 2026 MTB World Cup, Mondraker Factory Racing XC immediately rose to the challenge during a weekend that was as demanding as it was spectacular.
At the Korean event, which combined XCC and XCO from May 1–3, the team delivered a top-tier performance thanks to Sebastian Fini, who secured a magnificent 9th place in XCO, while Mona Mitterwallner took a solid 8th place in XCC followed by a 15th place in XCO.
Luke Moir, for his part, rounded out the results with a 48th-place finish, confirming the team’s presence at this season-opening world event.
This result is truly significant. On a renowned selective opening circuit, with conditions made even tougher by mud in the XCO, placing a rider in the world’s top 10 and having several athletes compete against the international elite sends an extremely strong signal.
Sebastian Fini’s top-10 finish highlights the team’s collective performance, while Mona Mitterwallner’s versatility across short track and Olympic disciplines underscores the depth of the team’s level of competition right from the first round.
On the equipment front, this weekend in Korea also spotlighted the Mavic Crossmax SL Ultimate, the wheels on which Mavic and Mondraker are clearly building their 2026 XC project.
Mavic explicitly presents the team as riding the Crossmax SL Ultimate, while Mondraker emphasizes that its riders are using high-performance Mavic wheels.
In the context of a season opener where riders must push the pace, endure, and maintain precision lap after lap, this top-10 finish and collective consistency provide a concrete demonstration of what is expected from a top-tier cross-country wheel: performance, precision, and consistency at the highest global level.
