To push aerodynamic performance beyond limits, we developed the Comete Ultimate: the fastest road helmet we’ve ever created, engineered to deliver measurable gains in every riding position.
Born in the wind tunnel and refined through advanced CFD simulations, it was tested against the top-10 performing helmets used in the World Tour using a rigorous testing protocol at 50 km/h, across two riding positions and 3 yaw angles (0°, 10°, 20°). The result is a helmet that consistently outperforms the competition. In aero position, it delivers up to 7.5 watts saved versus the closest competitor, and up to 15 watts on average across the test panel. On upright position, where riders spend most of their time, it saves 9 watts on average.
It integrates a new concept: AeroFlow disruptors. This aerodynamic innovation accelerates airflow at a critical point before separation. This key concept on its own saves up to 5 watts.
To balance speed with thermal efficiency, the CFD-optimized AirChannel ventilation system channels air through large front vents, deep internal channels, and rear exhausts, delivering active ventilation without compromising aerodynamic performance.
The Comete Ultimate also delivers pro-level comfort. The RS360 retention system ensures precise adjustment and a secure, stable fit at high speed, while the Mips® Air Node Pro system, combined with Coolmax padding, enhances moisture management and long-lasting comfort. Lightweight, adjustable straps sit naturally and integrate seamlessly with eyewear.

Born in the wind tunnel and refined through CFD, the Comete Ultimate outperforms the top 10 World Tour helmets.
It delivers an average of 9 watts saved in the upright position, where riders spend most of their time, and is even more dominant in the aero tuck, saving 7.5 watts over the closest competitor and 15 watts on average across the test panel.
It also features the AeroFlow disruptors. This key concept alone saves up to 5 watts by accelerating airflow right before it separates from the helmet.

Mavic R&D team commitment
The development of the Comete Ultimate relied on an uncompromising aerodynamic testing protocol combining CFD simulations with real-life testing in Hepia Geneva Wind Tunnel.
The R&D team ran over 750 hours of CFD simulations, including 108 hours of optimization, to refine every surface and airflow interaction around the helmet. To validate these virtual results in real-world conditions, multiple helmet iterations, along with the top 10 World Tour were tested during 25 hours of wind tunnel sessions. Conducted in a controlled environment with stable atmospheric conditions, these tests precisely measured aerodynamic drag in watts at 50 km/h, across both upright and aero riding positions, and at yaw angles of 0°, 10°, and 20°.
This rigorous development process led to the fastest road helmet we’ve ever created.

Developed through iterative wind tunnel testing, AeroFlow disruptors are designed to control airflow at a critical point, just before separation.
By accelerating the airflow and keeping it attached to the helmet surface for longer, they reduce the size of low-pressure zones behind the helmet, minimizing drag.
This key innovation alone delivers up to 5 watts.
