The Cosmic SLR Triathlon is a Mavic triathlon cycling shoe designed for athletes who want more than just a basic transition shoe. Positioned above the Cosmic Elite Tri, it features a more technical Matryx® upper, combined with a carbon composite sole to improve foot support and energy transfer to the pedal. The Velcro® strap wraps around the instep and its notch keeps it ready before putting the shoe on, a useful detail when the transition needs to remain smooth. Weighing in at 250g, this model remains very light for prolonged efforts. This road triathlon shoe is particularly suited to half and full-distance events, where stability, ventilation and pedalling efficiency matter just as much as how quickly you can slip them on.
Main features
Matryx® support during prolonged exertion
The Matryx® upper is the part that wraps around the foot. Its woven construction aims to provide more stable support than a conventional upper, whilst maintaining good breathability as the intensity increases. On the Cosmic SLR Triathlon, it works in conjunction with the strap to limit unwanted foot movement, a key factor in half and full-distance events where the pedalling motion is repeated for several hours.
Power transfer via carbon composite sole
The carbon composite sole provides a more dynamic base than entry-level soles, whilst maintaining useful tolerance over long distances. Combined with the support of the Matryx® upper, it helps transfer energy to the pedal. This is what clearly sets the Cosmic SLR Triathlon apart from the Cosmic Elite Tri: more support, more precision when pedalling.
Smooth transition with notched Velcro® strap
The Velcro® strap wraps around the instep and can be adjusted in a single movement. Its notch allows it to be kept open before putting the shoe on, so the shoe is ready as soon as you finish swimming. The heel loop completes this transition: you can grab the shoe more easily, even with a wet foot, and then adjust the tightness once you’re on the bike.
