Designed and built in our workshops in Annecy, France, each wheel needs 8 hours of careful work to position and assemble its 71 carbon parts.
The result: a one-piece construction for ultimate sensations combining the benefits of the lightest tubeless wheels with the power of disc braking.

The Cosmic Ultimate took 3 years of development from scratch, guaranteeing the integration of both a tubeless UST rim and hubs compatible with disc brakes, while respecting the foundations of the Cosmic Ultimate: the ultimate combination of lightness, rigidity and aerodynamics.
Each wheel is hand-assembled in France, taking 8 hours to precisely assemble its 71 carbon parts.
10 qualified technicians joined the Mavic team and have been trained for many months on the specificities of the Cosmic UltimateThey’re working tirelessly to make it.
An exemplary finish, right down to the laser-engraved final decoration.

Dan Martin, long-time Mavic athlete, and the neo-professionals of the AG2R U23 team participated in the testing of the wheel during its development.
The Le Col Wahoo and St Michel Auber 93 teams used the Cosmic Ultimate in the 2023 Tour de France.
After extensive field tests in all conditions, thousands of kilometres travelled on all types of slopes, their observations, in addition to those of our internal testers, have enabled us to continually refine the development of the wheel, with perfection in mind.
That's why the Cosmic Ultimate is now their wheel of choice.
LABORATORY TESTED
Like all Mavic wheels, the Cosmic Ultimate wheels have undergone an incredibly demanding series of tests in our dedicated laboratory in Annecy.
We could have strictly followed the requirements prescribed by the UCI, but we decided to go further.
The Cosmic Ultimate has been designed to withstand the most powerful sprints and the most brutal braking, for a long time.
During their validation process, the spoke attachments have undergone no less than 409 impact tests and 470 traction tests.
66 prototypes and 8 different constructions were tested in accelerated ageing tests in a climatic chamber to validate all possible and unimaginable reliability and longevity criteria.
Special attention has also been given to the spokes, and the new R2R spokes are now 4 times stronger than the previous generation.
As essential elements in the construction of a wheel, they have also undergone a battering of no less than 35 highly demanding tests.
Extensive side impact testing to ensure safety and reliability, loaded lateral and frontal endurance tests over thousands of kilometres at high speed, to create real wear conditions.
Static braking reproductions of over 100,000 times to observe torsional strength and finally, hundreds of dynamic braking runs with over 100kg of load to test their rigidity under the most severe conditions.

Fore Carbon
BondedLike aircraft wings.
An aluminium insert is moulded into the rim, between the carbon layers, to ensure a reinforced connection between the spoke and the rim.
Thanks to Fore Carbon technology, we have managed to considerably reduce the weight of the wheel, without losing any of its stiffness or durability.

R2R
The strongest link from one side of the rim to the other.
The Rim-to-Rim Technology spoke is now a unique handmade unidirectional carbon piece, connecting each side of the rim without a break in the hub.
The continual and consistent 150daN tension on all the spokes ensures a perfect alignment of the wheel

UD2
A unique finish
Our rim-finishing process, called UD2 (UniDirectional Diamond), highlights the unique quality of the high modulus carbon fibres we use.
The decoration, also perfected, is done by laser for an exclusive aesthetic effect.
