The Ksyrium SL Heritage was inspired from near centuries expertise in manufacturing aluminum. Mavic engineers developed the first aluminium wheels for the 1934 Tour de France. They were disguised as wood to allow the winner of that edition, Antonin Magne a compeditive edge. We pay homage to our heritage with these premium aluminum wheels that combine the timeless aesthetic of raw metal with our latest technologies.

The wheelset weighs only 1480g in the rim brake version and 1575g in the disc brake version.
The rim is made from 80% recycled 6351-T56 aluminum, and its profile has been designed to provide high lateral stiffness while ensuring vertical compliance for greater comfort. It also benefits from ISM4D machining to vary the material thickness according to the stresses endured.
The Mavic Ksyrium SL Heritage wheels feature our infinity hubs machined from a solid billet to ensure high performance while paying attention to every detail, including the patented spoke grip to ensure perfectly uniform spoke tension.
The freehub body is equipped with Mavic's patented ratchet drive Instant Drive360(ID360) technology. The ratchets are extremely durable and any maintenance needs are simple and tool-free.
Our patented aero spokes are designed to minimize air resistance while providing excellent stiffness. The spokes are attached to the rim using FORE technology, a unique Mavic patent, which involves screwing the spoke head directly into the rim. This reinforces the wheel's strength and allows the rim to be 100% airtight without rim tape (and therefore without additional weight), while greatly improving the tubeless tire installation. Spoke replacement is also made easier since they are all the same length and can be replaced without even removing the tire.
