Savilia Blunk & Rebecca Henderson on the World Cup Podium

The first round of the World Cup is always a special moment, the off-season is long, everyone eagerly awaits the grand return of the UCI MTB World Series, even more so in this Olympic year. The new equipment is ready, everyone has worked hard during the winter to prepare for this new season, the tension is at its peak.

On Saturday, it's Short Track (XCC) day, which notably determines the starting line position for the XCO. Rebecca Henderson (Primaflor Mondraker), already in great form during the preparation races, showed that she should be reckoned with this season by achieving a magnificent second place. Savilia Blunk (Decathlon Ford) will finish in the top 10, securing a good starting position. Thomas Litscher (Lapierre Mavic) also stands out with a 5th place finish.

On Sunday, Savilia managed to climb back, handle, and attack at the right moment to secure second place, her best result in the World Cup, a position she also holds in the overall standings.

Next UCI MTB World Series on the 20th and 21st in Araxa, Brazil.

Savilia Blunk – Team Décathlon Ford: Second Place in XCO

"It was a tough race, and I'm so happy to show up today for this first World Cup of the season. The off-season has been very intense, this podium today rewards all my efforts and hard training. Last year, I already finished on the porudim with 4th and 5th, so I'm adding more trophies to my podium collection ! Thanks to those who make this possible, the partners, and all the top-notch staff !"

Rebecca Henderson – Team Primaflor Mondraker Second Place in the Short Track

“Sometimes the wait until the new World Cup season is long and you even forget how hard it is. With two laps to go I was sixth and I thought it wasn't bad at all but I fought to recover positions and of course I ended up very happy with that second final position. I am used to the temperature like that of Brazil but not so much to the humidity, which has nothing to do with that at home, but you have to adapt and get used to all kinds of conditions.”
