19/04/2023 - Flèche Wallonne Femmes 2023
The Flèche Wallonne Femmes 2023 (1.WWT) was held this Wednesday morning, April 19th. As a prelude to the men's race, the women had to face a 127,3 kilometers long course with no less than three times the terrible Mur de Huy to climb.
Our two women's teams St-Michel-Mavic-Auber93 and Lifeplus Wahoo were present on this terrible climb. After a neutralized start, a first crash intervened in the peloton where unfortunately Dilyxine MIERMONT (St Michel-Mavic-Auber93) was present. Then, a long battle started for a breakaway where Ella HARRIS (Lifeplus Wahoo) saw the light. The leading group was caught again with around 40 kilometers to go and the first battles between the favourites took place.
In the end, there was a general regroupement at the foot of the côte de Cherave. A group of around ten riders breaks away on this climb. The second group with the riders of St-Michel-Mavic-Auber93 and Lifeplus Wahoo didn't come back on the last climb of the Mur de Huy.
In the end, for the Lifeplus Wahoo girls, Ella HARRIS finishes 25th and Ella WYLLIE, 27th. On the side of St-Michel-Mavic-Auber93, the first runner is ranked 40th, Olivia ONESTI followed by Camille FAHY, 41st and Coralie DEMAY, 48th. The two leaders Simone BOILARD, sick, and Dilyxine MIERMONT had a very difficult day.
