Ups and downs: this could be the summary of the Vuelta a España for Guillaume MARTIN. Only 3 months after finishing 8th in the Tour de France, the Cofidis team leader took 9th place in this very mountainous Vuelta, thus completing his second top 10 in a Grand Tour this season.
Still 2nd overall at the beginning of the third week, the Best Climber of the previous edition crashed heavily during the 16th stage, bravely finishing the race with a damaged sacrum and ribs.
The French climber will now head for the Italian classics at the end of the season, before a well-deserved rest...
