Fore
One wall of the rim is drilled with a tapered point with carbide that heats the alloy, and pushes it inside the rim. It creates a chimney that can then be threaded. The integrated M7 nipple can be screwed directly into this thread.
FTS-X - Force Transfer X
The ‘FTS Nose’ is an extension of the hub body that goes inside the freewheel. The contact zone between the pawl and the FTS Nose is reinforced by 2 stainless steel inserts, which allows for manufacturing an all aluminium, mono-piece hub body. The pawls are centered exactly in the middle of the freewheel body, for a direct power transmission. The FTS-X version features 2 new pawls made of harder steel, a new low friction v-seal and new axle end screw with a dry thread lock prep.
ISM - Inter Spoke Milling
Since the rim wall between each spoke hole is subjected to very little stress, it is possible to mill it to save weight. The rim is CNC machined, leaving just the necessary material to obtain the best weight/rigidity/durability ratio. A Mavic® multi-patented exclusive concept (US 6 402 256).
Maxtal
Exclusive alloy developed specifically for Mavic by Pechiney Alcan Group, for rim manufacturing and optimizing alloy characteristics vs. that specific use.
QRM - Qualité Roulements Mavic®
Sealed cartridge bearings that are serviceable, mounted on a special axle featuring a "bearing support ring" to adjust play.
SUP - Soudé Usiné Process
After bending, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded seam is then milled for a smooth finish.
UB Control - Usiné Brut Control
The sidewalls of the rim are milled with a diamond point on a digitally controlled machine after assembly and anodization,
UST - Universal Standard for Tubeless
Creation of an airtight rim thanks to the Fore concept, drilling of one rim wall only. A UST rim profile shows specific humps to fix securely UST compatible tyre or any other tube type tyre.
