Australian rider Jack Bobridge, Garmin-Cervelo's 21-year old rising star, surprised himself and the cycling world by setting a new world record in the 4km pursuit. He rode a pair of Comete Disc wheels on Sydney's Dunc Grey Velodrome during the Australian elite track championships, stopping the clock at 4:10.534. Bobridge's time is over 0.5 seconds faster than Chris Boardman's previous world record set in 1996, a record once thought unbreakable. 'To come around and see that on the board, I was honestly quite shocked,' said Bobridge. Clearly on a roll this year, Bobridge was also recently crowned Australia's elite road race champion.
