7 gold medals at the first round of the track World Cup!

The first round of the 2011 UCI Track Cycling World Cup was held November 4-6 in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan. Mavic riders brought home a total of 24 medals, including 7 gold medals. The highlights included Chris Hoy (Sky Track Cycling) of Great Britain winning the men’s sprint, and Glenn O’Shea of Australia winning the 4km individual pursuit.

After a spell with few victories, four-time Olympic and ten-time world champion Hoyhas returned to form on the final day at the opening round of the 2011-2012 UCI Track World Cup. He took out the men’s sprint to lay down the challenge to Australian hopeful Shane Perkins and remind the cycling world of his intentions ahead of April’s world championships in Melbourne and the London Olympics.
