All our wheels are focused on real-world performance, with the cooperation of athletes.
It's a major development process to obtain reliable and high performance wheels. All year round, we work in partnership with international athletes. Their experiences in competition and numerous test riders in the field allowed us to perfect our 29" wheels. With their comments, we addressed 3 major points:
The weight argument: we were able to keep the same number of spokes as in a 26", and because we had strengthened them, the wheel doesn't gain too much mass.
The rim profile: to prevent spoke fatigue and cracking, we created a rim profile strengthened especially for 29".
Enhanced spoke reliability: on Crossmax SLR, spokes on the drive side, which bear the greatest loads, receive a special treatment to make them stronger.
17 Mavic tech centers and a presence on all the major events of the circuit allow us to design reliable and high perfomance wheels, for all conditions.
We don't rest on 20 years of experience building mountain bike wheels. We impose laboratory and field tests at every stage in wheel development. We test the limits of our products, leaving nothing to chance.
On 29-inch wheels, as on the other models of the range, we set up demanding tests of strength and solidity to verify the product reliability. We apply heavy loads to the wheels to mimic real racing conditions.
To assess the performance of our wheels, professional racers test and compare prototypes. To ensure their reliability, they have been distributed to more than 600 testers, over the course of nearly 2 years, with monthly reporting and analysis.
